The Chinese and foreign travel documents related to the Mongol empire in the 13thcentury were important historical data covering the contents of Mongolian material life at that time.At present,the study on the travel documents of China and foreign countries is becoming more and more in-depth,mainly by use of citation,but the study on the Mongolian folk culture in the 13th Century has not been systematized.Based on the exploration and arrangement of Chinese and foreign travel documents in the 13thcentury,this paper focuses on the study of the folk customs of the Mongolians,and uses the relevant historical documents textual research methods to supplement the research of the field survey method,so as to show the whole picture of Mongolian folk culture in the13thcentury.The paper consists of the following parts:Introduction,conclusion,Bibliography,Appendix and three main chapters.Introduction explains the significance of the research,provides a literature review and introduces research methods.Chapter 1 sorts out the types of Mongolian dwelling in the travel documents,which was divided into wooden residence,felt residence and tent shelter and the civil residence,at the same time,the above-mentioned residence was studied and introduced.Chapter 2 elaborates on the living customs in the travel document from three aspects:the allocation and utilization of the residence space,the residence,the residence and the sitting,the demolition and construction of the residence and the site.In the third chapter,the author explores the connotation of Mongolian inhabitation culture in the travel document,and carries out the research from the aspects of symbolic culture,ecological culture and residence taboos.In the conclusion,the author summarizes the full text,and put forward some ideas and thoughts.The author thinks that the Mongolian living culture in the 13thcentury was adapted to the historical and specific geographical environment,the way of production and life style.Due to the large historical time span of the research object and the limitation of my ability,the research still has some shortcomings.
