Zen Aesthetic Expression Of The Buddhism Temple Garden In China

As an important part of Chinese classical garden system,The Buddhism Chinese temple garden is independent and comprehensive with profound aesthetic connotation.However,most of the modern people only focus on the religious functions(e.g.,pray)which results in the poor understanding and research on the essential beauty and the spirit of the temple garden.Similarly,Chinese modern garden design is also in the face of the lack of spiritual connotation.Therefore,we firstly investigate the relationship between Zen Aesthetics and Chinese Buddhism temple garden basing on the Zen aesthetics in temples.And then we explore the deep connotation of Zen aesthetics contained in the temple from the spiritual level.Finally,we summarize the enlightenment of Zen aesthetics to our modern garden design.We study the research topic from various kinds of aspects which include theoretical research,field investigation,etc.Theoretical research.(1)We dig out the potential connotation by extensive reading and sorting the history of Zen.Basing on this,we propose the aesthetic implication contained in Zen thoughts.On the basis of this theory,we explore the relationship between the Zen Aesthetics and Chinese traditional arts(e.g.,Confucianism,poetry and Chinse painting)to further deepen the connotation of Zen aesthetics.Meanwhile,we discuss this kind of aesthetic form and a variety of garden forms.By the analysis of the literature and case,we discuss the Zen Aesthetics in different forms of garden design which contributes to making the expression of Zen aesthetics more concrete.And this would provide solid foundation in the further research on how Zen Aesthetics embodied in Buddhism Chinese temple gardens.(2)We summary the aesthetic connotation by means of logical classification basing on the characteristics and connotation of The Buddhism temple garden which provides the theoretical support for our research topic.Field investigation.We have made field investigation for a lot of temple gardens in many places such as Beijing,Tianjin,Hangzhou,Suzhou,Anhui,Chongqing and so on.We analyzed the relationship between Zen Aesthetics and design of temple gardens from its history classified,location,distribution,space layout,The main characteristics and aesthetic transformation.The article from the point of view of six sums up the main characteristics of the Buddhism temple garden in China.And selection in which several renovation in the qing dynasty period of zen temple garden as the specific research object,and from the history landscape layout three aspects studied zen aesthetics aesthetic expression and the relationship of the Buddhism temple garden.Summary.Basing on theoretical research and field investigation,we summarized about how the Zen Aesthetics embodied in the Buddhism temple garden from material aspect and spiritual aspect.Conclusion.Through a series of analysis,we obtained the conclusion of the article.And based on this,we also discussed the enlightenment of Zen aesthetics to modern garden design.
