Intertemporal choice refers to the process by which decision-makers make choices based on trade-offs between two aspects: time and benefit.Compared with the currency field, there are few studies on intertemporal decision-making in other fields. After individuals make intertemporal choice, decision makers must make final choices.Researchers began to pay attention to the influence of self-construal which as one of the important psychological characteristics of the decision makers on the intertemporal choice. In daily life, individuals have to face issues from different fields, such as health field, work field, etc.Studies have shown that individuals have a tendency to discount time in different areas.A great amount of Studies have shown that individuals have a tendency to given lower weight to future gains and losses. Therefore, studying the tendency of time discounts in different decision-making fields has an important theoretical value and practical significance for individuals to understand their decision-making preferences. This study was conducted in two parts, the questionnaire survey method was used to explore the domain specific and influencing factors of intertemporal choice for undergraduates in both the gain and loss conditions. In this study,a selective titration method was used to explore the specificity and influencing factors of intertemporal choice under the decision-making condition of both benefit and loss.Study 1 uses an adapted intertemporal choice context questionnaire, including money, health and environment,Under the two different decision-making conditions of gains and losses, the results of intertemporal choice and discounting rates for 275 college students using the selective titration method to explore whether college students had the domain specific of intertemporal choice and gender, ethnicity and other variables of thedomain specific of intertemporal choice. In Study 2,105 self-construal types of college students were selected using the self-construal scale.Using a selective titration method,105 college students with different self-construal were measured and made intertemporal choice to investigate the influence of self-construal on the domain specific of intertemporal choice. The results show that:(1)The time discount rate of college students in the profit valence is greater than the time discount rate of the loss valence and there is a significant positive correlation between the two conditions.(2)The time discount rate of college students in different fields is significantly different.Under the the gain condition, the discounting rate in the money is significantly different from the discounting rate in the health and the environment. The intertemporal choice of college students in the money field is more inclined that tend to Immediate gains;Under the loss valence, there are significant differences in discounting rate in the three fields. In the environmental field, the discounting rate is the largest, and it is more prone to immediate loss. The discounting rate in the health field is the second highest, and the discounting rate in the money field is the smallest, which is more prone to delay losses.(3)There is no significant gender difference in the domain specific of intertemporal choice.(4)Under the environmental-gain condition,Mongolian college students have greater discount rate of inter-period decision-making than those of Han students.(5)In the money-gain condition, the time discount rate of interdependent college students is significantly greater than that of independent college students. In summary, college students have the domain specific of intertemporal choice; In the intertemporal choice of the environmental-gain condition,Han university students tend to choose long-term options for larger profits compared with Mongolian college students;self-construal affects college students under the money-gain condition. In intertemporal decision-making,independent college students are more likely to choose long-term options for larger profits compared with interdependent college students.
