During late-Qing period,Shaanxi new education initiated under the background of the spread of new type of education on a national scale.This thesis tries to considers the northwest province of Shaanxi as the geographical scope of the study to examine how the Academy of Reformation in the late Qing Dynasty operated in the local society,presenting the locality of the reform of the school system in the late Qing Dynasty.Shaanxi Guanzhong was the birthplace of Guan School in the Northern Song Dynasty.The concept of Guan School founded by Zhang Zai undertook several generations of scholars in Shaanxi Province to influence the style of study of local academies.Influenced by the deep national crisis and the impact of western learning in the late Qing dynasty,that led to the development and changes in Guan School Thought Circle and the reform of traditional academy education.Liu Guyu and others played an important role in it.They tried to reinvigorate the country and society by merging the pragmatism of Guan School with Western learning.Nevertheless,the reform of the traditional academy was not completed and the new school replaced the traditional academy.At the same time,Guan School,like other School of Neo-Confucianism,presented an overall decline in the late Qing and early Republican periods.The Qing government dominated the modernization of Shaanxi education.On the one hand,it created an atmosphere of new learning and prosperity.However,on the other hand,there are many problems unsolved behind the flourishing trend,and the problem of defective talents training system is prominent.
