The Rite And Music Tradition And The Development Of The Intrinsic Value World Of Pre-Qin Confucianism

The ritual music was originally related to the sacrifice.At the time of Yin Zhou,with the change of the concept of the destiny and the political situation,the ritual music itself has undergone great changes.The ritual music based on offerings to gods is gradually becoming humanistic.The ceremonial music in the Zhou Dynasty contains various values: First,pretend the feudal patriarchal system,to confirm human's status.Second,human behavior is arranged,to determine the principle of interaction.Third,restrain the body and mind to cultivate temperament.Fourth,inviting destiny to link human and fate.During the Spring and Autumn Period,the ritual and music system established in the Western Zhou Dynasty had brokendown,mainly because of the loss of its political functions.In response to this situation,the scholars initiated the discussion of ceremonial divisions and proposed similar solutions to naturalist.Confucius had a great respect for the ritual tradition.He called himself "say without making".The establishment of his ideology was not premised on the breakthrough of the ritual tradition.On the contrary,he carefully maintained this tradition and tried to look for the chance to re-emerge in the tradition.Confucius regards humanity as the essence of man and finds a secret way to Heaven in his heart.However,the hearts of Confucius are not the naked ones,but the entire existence of the mind and body,and the homeland.Confucius has opened up a world of intrinsic value through the system of rituals and music.This requires people to reach heaven through moral practices.This contribution of Confucius was reflected in the interpretation of Zhouyi in his later years.In his later years,Confucius expressed a keen interest in Zhouyi.What he valued was not the function of divination in Zhouyi,but he converted it into a philosophical script that transcends the heavenly path according to the laws of thought contained in the process of imprisonment.Pre-Qin Confucianism opened up a world beyond physiology and history through the ritual tradition.This intrinsic value world has great significance for communicating with people,but it is done through moral practice.In this way,the doctrines of the Confucianists are advancing in two directions: one is the metaphysical path through which sexuality passes,and the other is the idealistic path of the moralway.The former mainly discusses the relationship between essence and nature.That is to say,from the destiny to the whereabouts,we mainly talk about the relationship between creation and creation of heaven and man.From the heart to confirm the heart is the way to the destiny.The latter emphasizes the fundamental role of morality in political life.That is,by inspiring the self-occurrence of people's moral consciousness,people's spiritual realm can be promoted.Based on this,we can provide people in different social strata and status with daily life rules that everyone should follow.This is proof of the transcendental significance of the ultimate concern for human beings and the noumenon of life,so that we can deal with the relationship such as the monarch and courtiers,superior and subordinate,father and son,the couples,the brothers,and the friends.
