The Study On Heng Hai And The Rebellion Of Li Tongjie

After the An-Shih Rebellion,Henghai Military Governorship in Cangzhou district showed complicated condition during the interaction between Hebei and the central government of Tang Dynasty.The complicated condition was due to its tradition,the authority of the central government and local leader's political orientation.Henghai Military Governorship,which was developed from an army establishead during Emperor Li Longji's reign,featured strong sense of independence on account of its unique location and economy.During Emperor Li Kuo's reign,Cangzhou district was forced to return allegiance to the government and set a Military Governorship owing to the local turmoil.Influenced by both the central government and its own tradition,Henghai Military Governorship had two sides: one was submissive to the central government,the other remained its own tradition.The intensity of control by the central government is the major factor for the changes in the political orientation of Henghai District.During Emperor Li Heng and Emperor Li Zhan's reign,Li Tongjie and his father Li Quanlve,leaders of Henghai District,strengthened their own power due the weak control by the central government.During Emperor Li Zhan and Emperor Li Ang's reign,Henghai district was punished with different sentence: Li Tongjie was denied the inheritance of his father's authority over the district.With the ever-increasing conflicts between the central government,Li Tongjie staged a rebellion.After 3 years of war,war was ceased,but political structure remained.
