A Study On The Translation Strategy Of Biotechnological Texts From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the rapid scientific and technological progress,one country getting newest information will be a main factor for its advancement of science and technology and development of social economy.More and more scientific and technical texts are written in English and they have two characteristics: objectivity and veracity.These specialized texts are born at the right moment.And they are different from literary texts in English.The features of biotechnological texts are professional information,complex structures,new conceptions,more declarative sentences,passive sentences and complicated long sentences and simply expressions.As a chief medium,the translation of biotechnological plays an important role in the global information dissemination of science and technology.The appropriate theory is needed to guide translational action to improve the quality of E-C translation of biotechnological texts.Guided by the theory of skopos theory,this thesis elaborates its three important rules to analyze the E-C biotechnological texts,taking the E-C translation of Drug-Resistant Bacteria which written in Economist for example to provide evidence that skopos theory can be properly applied to guide biotechnological texts,translators can choose correct translation strategies to solve problems of words,sentences and discourses during translating.As important applied texts,biotechnological texts are so practical and realistic even interested.Different from literary texts,informative texts are mainly used to carry information served by their language characters and main content.There are so many western translation theories,we choose skopos theory based on features like functionality and finality of technological texts to guide the translation of biotechnological texts.Translating methods by reference to skopos theory are of theoretical value and practical significance.
