At present,with the continuous development of the internationalization of universities,college teachers are increasingly participating in international academic exchanges.In particular,teachers of science and engineering colleges and universities often face various difficulties in publishing academic English articles and have various needs due to the requirements of academic development.This study adopts questionnaires,interviews and other research instruments to explore the writing needs and target needs of college teachers in the process of academic English writing and get to know the overall situation of college teachers' English academic writing.This study conducted a questionnaire survey of 164 college teachers and interviewed 7 teachers at the same time in order to find out their needs for academic writing in English and explore the ways to improve academic English writing,hoping to improve college teachers in academic English writing skills by providing some tips and help.The study finds that college teachers write and publish academic English papers mainly at the age of 30-40.There is no close relationship among the number of published articles and gender,English level,and weekly learning time.The purpose of academic writing in English is mainly to publish high quality SCI/EI papers.College teachers publish academic English papers for academic exchanges and expanding academic influence.In the writing process,they have solid professional knowledge,skilled with professional vocabulary,grammar and syntax.The problem is mainly focused on expressing Chinese thinking in English,leading to articles that do not conform to English thinking habits.At the same time,in the process of writing,when they encounter some problems and need help,they mainly depend on the resources of the library's network.They seldom communicate with colleagues in academic English writing and do not invest much time in academic writing training.The influence of age on teach academic exchange is mainly reflected in the relatively clear demand among young teachers for academic exchange needs,syntactic requirements,and teaching resource requirements.Older teachers are more proficient in academic English writing or have no incentive to publish English articles,so there is no demand.Gender has no significant effect on teachers' academic writing in English.The article suggests that in the context of publishing high-quality academic English papersas a necessary condition for assessment and professional title evaluation,universities,especially western universities,should take steps to strengthen international academic exchanges,expand academic influence,and increase academic research in order to promote international academic exchanges.In view of the huge market for the language modification of the current academic papers published in English,competent universities and institutions can set up specialized institutions to provide reliable help and guidance for the publication of academic English papers.
