World War ? changed the world,the United States became the new leader in the western capitalist world.Britain,once a leader,has become a second-class country with a weaker voice.Japan,formally occupied by the United Nations after the defeat,was actually occupied and managed by the United States for six years and eight months.In order to safeguard its own interests,Britain also actively participated in the occupation of Japan as a victorious country.British and the United States in their respective interests over the formulation of policy on occupation of Japan,but ultimately coordinate.In the early stage of occupation,American policy objective was to ensure that Japan is no longer on the peace and security of the United States or the world of the threat;Eventually build a peaceful and responsible government,and support the UN charter is the ideal target,and the principle reflected in the United States,so tough policy to Japan.But with the dramatic changes in the international situation during the occupation,the United States has also changed its policy towards Japan.The United States wanted Japan to become a member of the western camp to resist communism.In the early stage of the occupation,the British policy objective was to avoid a full-scale collapse of Japan,which would impact Britain's interests in East Asia,thus advocating a more relaxed policy toward Japan.In the later period of occupation,Britain agreed with the United States to engage Japan in the western camp,but was afraid that Japan would rely on United States to harm British interests and thus actively promote making the peace treaty with Japan.During the occupation,there were differences and coordination between the Britain and American occupation policies toward Japan politically,economically and diplomatically.There were manifested in the way of occupation,the emperor,the military management system,war crimes trial,peace constitution,industrial production,foreign trade,the most-favoured-nation treatment,war compensation,on the day of peace and China representation there are conflict and compromise.Finally,for the common purpose ofdefending the communist camp,the two countries reached a consensus and signed the“Anglo-American Joint Plan”.As a result of the coordination of British and American occupation policy,Japan was transformed from a defeated nation into an American alliance and reestablished its political relationship with Britain.United Stated became the leader of the Western world,and Britain acquiesced to follow in the footsteps of the United Stated,and relationship between the two counties became more harmonious.Through the coordinated between Britain and United States on Japanese occupation policy,Japan strives for the national interests to the maximum extent,and rapidly rose to become the Asian power.After World War ?,the British occupation policy towards Japan had a certain influence,which should not be exaggerated and should not be ignored.
