On The Rise Of The Putonghua Movement In The Gansu Province,1955-1960

Since modern times,the intellectuals have been pursuing the unification of the pronunciation of Chinese characters,and thus helping to complete the shaping of the national state.From the movement of the late Qing Dynasty,the movement of the Mandarin Movement and the new Latin characters have been experienced.Although many solutions have been put forward,the goal of the unified pronunciation has not been realized.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,this historical trend of thought was continued.After extensive discussions,the language policy of popularizing Putonghua began to take place.During the period of 1955-1960 years,the popularization of Putonghua was transformed into a nationwide social mobilization because of the political context of socialist transformation and construction,the great leap forward movement,the reform of words,and the strengthening and consolidation of the political context of the unity of the Han nationality and the state.At the same time,after the completion of the socialist transformation,Gansu has established a planned economic system,and on this basis,there have been a large influx of foreign population,the improvement of various educational systems,the construction and development of communication and broadcasting and film undertakings,the development of literacy and amateur cultural studies,and the construction of water conservancy projects.Under the background of the five factors and conditions of Putonghua Education,Gansu’s Putonghua campaign has been opened.The campaign of popularizing Putonghua in Gansu includes training teachers,dialect investigation,promotion and popularization of Chinese phonetic alphabet,organizing and participating in various kinds of Putonghua activities,mobilizing various organizations and PLA troops to promote Putonghua,fully supplying various kinds of teaching aids to popularize Putonghua,and promoting the gradual deepening of the Putonghua movement.To all aspects of social life.The author thinks that the promotion of Putonghua movement reflects the strong dominance of the government on social resources under the planned economic system of 1950 s,which makes the promotion of Putonghua movement also able to move.
