As the turning point of the Scotland Independence War in the 13 th and 14 th century, the battle of Bannockburn is the most important battle in the history of Scottish, meanwhile it is one of the most significant campaign in history of Medieval Britain. The Scottish army commanded by Robert Bruce defeated the 2 times English army commanded by Edward ? in this battle, and acquired the largest victory during the Scotland Independence War. This battle turned the tables of the Scotland Independence War, and laid a solid foundation for the independence of Scotland.After the broken out of the Scotland Independence War, the Scots gained a series of victories with the leading of William Wallace, but the defeat of the battle of Falkirk made Scotland take a sudden turn for the worse, the Scotland Independence War got into a low tide lasting more than ten years. At this critical moment, Robert Bruce carried the banner of William Wallace, led the Scots to counterattack and made great progress rapidly, they met the decisive battle of Bannockburn in June 1314. The two sides of the battle of Bannockburn have obvious difference in the aspects of the commanders, the army components, and the battle plans, and these difference lead to the final outcome of this battle. After two days of fierce fighting, the well-prepared Scottish army gained a complete victory, making the Scots extricate from the predicament, and began to take the initiative in the Independence War.The battle of Bannockburn is a victory about Robert Bruce to Edward ?, it made the former become the greatest national hero of the Scotland history. As well the battle is a victory about the infantry which mostly composed by spearman to the heavy cavalry which mostly composed by knights, it proved the spearman's threaten to the cavalry forceful and promoted the process of the Infantry Revolution of western Europe in the 14 th century. Moreover the battle is a victory about the Scottish which yearning for freedom and independence to the England invaders, it made Scotland obtain the independence and England has had no large-scale aggression to Scotland form then on.The battle of Bannockburn is deeply rooted among the Scottish, inspiring the Scottish national emotion, it has great influence to the history and present situation of Scotland and the whole Britain. Although has passed 700 years, it is not easy to estimate the national pride and self-confidence which the battle brought to the Scottish, and it's influence to Scotland and Britain society will continue to exist in the future for a long time.
