The Development Of Korean Modernization And Its Reference To China

The modernization of a country is mainly manifested in the material,institutional and conceptual evolution from traditional society to modern society.Those are called economic modernization,political modernization and cultural modernization.Among them,the economic modernization,which is the foundation of the progress of institution and concept,includes economic growth,economic development and industrialization.And the political modernization and cultural modernization expedites the process of economic modernization.The 'political modernization is manifested as the democratization of the polity,the degree of political corruption,the rule of law and so on.The cultural modernization is characterized by the popularization of education,the prevalence of the enterprising spirit and wide recognition of the concept of freedom,rationality,science and equality,etc.Since 1960s,South Korea developed rapidly from a poor backward agricultural country with limited resources into an advanced industrial country,completing the progress of industrialization which cost western countries hundreds of years.Meanwhile,South Korea achieved the transformation of political democratization,the great advance of education,the innovation of science and technology.South Korea has made remarkable achievements in all fields.There are four parts in this paper.Chapter One teases out the research status on the Korean modernization development both home and abroad at first,with different perspectives of scholars.Then,the basic meaning and main ideas of modern theory is investigated.In the second chapter,the modernizing progress of South Korea are divided into 3 stages,which are take-off stage under the rule of the authoritarian government,the rapid rise stage under the free market mechanism and the breakthrough stage after deep reform.The basis of the classification of the stages are great changes of political pattern,evolution of economic strategy and occurrence of great events.Chapter Two summarizes the polities and effects of South Korean modernizing progress from international environment,economic factors,political factors,ideological factors and so on.Chapter Three summarizes the experience and lessons of the South Korea modernization.Experience is mainly reflected in the leading role of government,the outward-oriented economy development model,and the continuous breakthrough in technological innovation.The lessons mainly exist in the government's excessive interference,the expansion of big enterprise groups and the increasing external dependence.Chapter Four is the key part of this paper.This part firstly reviews the current situation of China's modernization from the ach.ievements of China's modernization and the outstanding problems in the process.Then,combined the actual situation of China with the experience of South Korea,several conclusions and advice are given.Such as appropriate management between the government and market,technical inovation providing strong driving power,education development providing high-quality human resources,industrial upgrading shifting the country developing model,excessive external dependence needed to be prevented,etc.
