On one hand,police work is highly stressed and extremely dangerous,during the process of wield power and perform duty,police officers often deal with complicated social incident.On the other hand,Police work requires 24 hours on stand-by,need to work overtime frequently and leave for missions on short notice,it would cause disruption of individuals' circadian rhythms.These occupational features decide that police officers are vulnerable to develop sleep problems.Sleep is a basic indicator of individuals' physical and psychological health.It's essential to analysis its' potential causes and negative effects,then take certain measures to intervene,in order to enhance the comprehensive quality of the police officers.This present study analysis the risk factors to develop sleep problems and its mechanism,explores the effect of sleep quality on executive function among police officers.Use questionnaire survey on 166 policer officers in the police station of xx city and extract 97 subjects to participate behavioral experiments.Results show that(1)Sleep problems are common among police,71 subjects in the sample exceed 7 points of sleep quality index,case detection rate is 42.77%.(2)Sleep quality is positively correlated with police occupational stress(r=0.31)and dysfunctional cognitions about sleep(r=0.49).(3)Occupational feature stressor and worry/helplessness about insomnia can predict sleep quality,together these two factors could explain 32%variation of sleep quality.(4)Dysfunctional believes and attitudes has mediating effect of occupational stress and sleep quality.(5)Sleep quality has significant impact on updating function,but doesn't affect inhibition function and switch function.Conclusions:(1)The occupational stress and dysfunctional cognitions about sleep are the risk factors of the decline of sleep quality among police officers.(2)Sleep quality affects certain part of effective function.Based on these results,we recommend(1)Popularize the knowledges about sleep hygiene,deepen the understanding of risk factors of insomnia,change those dysfunctional believes and attitudes about sleep and learn self-help methods to improve sleep quality among police individuals.(2)On the level of organization,Public Security Organs should generalize the overall application of CBT-I,build specialized departments to do counseling and seek for professional training in society.
