Being thrifty and frugal is one of the finest virtues of the Chinese nation. After the establishment of new China, in the course of national economic recovery, the campaign to increase production and practice economy was carried out in the whole country, and the ideological and political education provided the campaign the important support for its smooth progress. It is of great significance to discuss the issue of the ideological and political education in the initial stage of New China.In addition to the introduction part, this paper also includes other four parts. First,the background of the campaign to increase production and practice economy: the new China had been just set up, the economic situation was serious which lead to inflation,combining with the huge military expenditure caused by the Korean War , it was necessary to exercise the campaign to increase production and practice economy. Second,to explore the approaches of ideological and political education, which mainly included two ways: mobilization via meeting mobilization and propagandas via press. Third, the methods of the ideological and political education in the campaign to increase production and practice economy, which mainly are typical modeling and labor emulation. Fourth,the revelation and inspiration that the ideological and political education in the campaign to increase production and practice economy can provide to the modern society. The propaganda and agitation work should adopt the ideological education which could change from time to time in line with it, and it should be people-oriented and should strengthen the optimization of the education subject.
