The Study Of Tsai Ing-wen's Cross-strait Policy

DPP,one of the largest political party in Taiwan,its political views and actions have a certain influence on the direction of the development of relations across the Taiwan Straits.Since its foundation in September 1986,DPP has refused to accept the one-China policy.Its views and actions of “Taiwan independence” caused the cross-strait tensions when it was in office for the first time.During the alternation of ruling parties in Taiwan in 2016,the DPP,led by Tsai Ing-wen,won a landslide victory.Tsai Ing-wen's attitude towards cross-strait policy to China mainland,which is based on the separatist continues and antagonistic thinking from Lee Deng-hui and Chen Shui-bian,has no essential difference compared with DPP's "Taiwan independence" claim on general.Influenced by the pressure from Taiwan,the mainland's deterrent and the change of international attitude,Tsai Ing-wen,after she came to power,could not make a declaration of "Taiwan independence"publicly,while she has to deal with "1992 Consensus " and "one China policy " with ambiguity.The evasive attitude of Tsai Ing-wen towards “1992 Consensus” which is the cross-strait political foundation,has become an important variables affect on the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.Tsai Ing-wen,after she came to power,inherited and carried forward DPP's internal political legacy of "Taiwan independence",by promoting "desinicization" to alienated people's feelings across the strait to carry out “transitional justice” to strengthen the "Taiwan independence" forces,and implement "the new Southward policy" to hinder cross-strait economic communication..On the external practice,she used the strategy of "pro-American,cooperate with Japan and restrict China” to seek foreign aid against mainland China,and implemented "active diplomacy" to expand the international space.These have made a very serious influence on the cross strait relations..The cross-strait policy views and actions of Tsai Ing-wen violated the one-China policy,which caused diplomatic vicious competition.On the aspect of economy,it braked the economic development of cross-strait economic exchange,and hindered the system development of the economic exchange across the strait;as well as on the aspect of society,it exacerbated the value confrontation across the strait and caused the emotional alienation of people across the strait,and on the aspect of culture,it hindered the cross-strait cultural exchanges and caused the change of cultural identity of Taiwan.Faced up to the impact on cross-strait relations caused by Tsai Ing-wen's cross-strait policy,the mainland should stick to "one-China policy" to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations by reinforcing economic,social and cultural exchange across the strait.
