| The naissance of the People's Republic of China scribes the end of the "the Republic of China". However, the naissance of new China doesn't scribe the perdition of the influence of Kuomintang. On December 7, 1949, the Kuomintang declared to move the capital of "China republic government" from mainland to Taipei.With the support of the United States, the Kuomintang relied on their military and political power to continue to maintain the so-called "China republic government". As a result, the military confrontation across Taiwan Straits, which was considered as the continuation of the civil war, came along between the two parties who both aimed at exterminating the other party through the use of force to unify China.In 50's and at the beginning of 60's, both parties across Taiwan Straits launched vigorous military struggle. But when the United States schemed "governing separately across the straits", "one China one Taiwan", namely "two-Chinas", the country was bipartisan totally to stick to, without previous consultation, a position of insisting on "one-China" again and opposing to "two-Chinas" schemes and safeguarded the territorial integrity of China. Under the common acceptance of the "one-China" principle and according to the development and variation of both international and domestic situation and the inside situation in Taiwanese island, the both parties adjusted the strategy of the conflict, creating gradually a beneficial environment for peaceful reunification.Taiwan has been an indivisible part of Chinese territory from time immemorial. The issue of Taiwan totally resulted from the civil war between the two parties and had nothing to do with any foreign country. However, in order to achieve their global ambition, the U.S. signed with the authorities of Kuomintang treaties of military alliance or paramilitary alliance, interfering constantly in the internal affairs of China and making the cross-strait relation more complicated. And the U.S. had never changed thoroughly their position of interfering in internal affairs of China even after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China. Instead, they played the "Taiwanese card" to suppress China ever and anon, seriously baffling the progress of Chinese reunification. To realize peaceful reunification of China, we must handle appropriately the China-U.S. relations.After the establishment of New China, according to the "Charter of theUN" and the relevant principles of the international law, the legal seat of People's Republic of China should be immediately restored in the United Nations. But with the support of the western anti-China forces with the United States at the core, the Formosan authorities of Kuomintang still publicized that they were the unique legal government to represent the "whole China" and occupied over a long period of time the permanent membership of the United Nations. The Communist Party of China and Chinese government, through the hard conflict of 22 years, finally achieved the approval of the resolution by the overwhelming majority votes at the 26th session of the General Assembly of United Nations of 1997 and gained the recovery of the legal seat of People's Republic of China in the United Nations. So far, the conflict of the cross-straits around the legal seat in the United Nations told eventually the victory of Communist Party of China. But since Lee Denghui governed the business of Taiwan in January of 1988, he has tried to carry out "practical diplomacy" to "challenge the impossible".
