This comparative study on capitalism between Karl Marx and Max Weber is based on the core concepts of class and status group. Marx traced back the origin of earlier political capitalism from the perspective of historical materialism, while Weber compared the particularity of rational capitalism on a world-wide scale. Both Marx and Weber treated materials and spirit equally on the origin of capitalism instead of determinism. This paper put institutional Weber and cultural Weber together by the core concept status group as well. This paper wanted to say that both Marx and Weber were focus on the way to emancipate modernistic mankind's by comparing the different viewpoints about capitalism between these two people. According to Max Weber, mankind will ultimately be caught into the iron cage of rationality and bureaucracy. People should uphold responsibility ethics to seek the value and significance of life In the context of Modernity.
