In the back ground of adjustment of agricultural industrial structure and acceleration transfer of rural surplus laborers,the participation of women in agriculture increasingly high.The feminization is more and more obvious,rural women have played a dominant role in agricultural production activities.But the situation of rural women's rights showing a "formal equality" and "substantial differences",so the contribution and value in agriculture are often underestimated.Food security is a radical issue related to the national economy and the people's livelihood,the important role of women in food security has become increasingly prominent in recent years,bring the women's empowerment and food security have become the focus of social and economic field.This study focuses on the rural poor areas,from two angles of macroscopic and microcosmic,by the qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to analyze the influence of women's empowerment on food security,to put forward policy advices for improving rural women's empowerment and ensuring food security.This paper consists of 5 chapters,the first chapter,under the background of the research,analyzes the research status at home and abroad,explicates the purpose and significance,defines the research methods and technical route,and puts forward the possible innovation points of the paper.The second chapter focuses on the status of women's empowerment,defines the concept of "women's empowerment",and analyzes the factors that influence women's empowerment.The third chapter based on the field survey data,attempts to construct the Women's Empowerment Index in Agriculture(WEAI)from the following 6 dimensions: agricultural production,productive resources,living assets,daily consumption,credit and social relations.The fourth chapter is to measure the influence of women's empowerment on family food security,using multiple linear,quantile(QR)and propensity score matching(PSM)models to verify from different aspects.The fifth chapter is the summary,with the practice to put forward the policy suggestions for raise the level of women's empowerment and ensure the family food security.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1.The lack of control of agricultural production and productive resources are the main factors that leading to women are not empowered.In addition,the credit is also an important aspect of women's empowerment.Therefore,to improve women's decision-making power and control in the agricultural sector,promote the development of micro financial services and rural women to become self-employed,raise income level.2.There are significant differences of women empowerment in different regions.At the same time,the implementation of the project will help improve the level of women's empowerment,they can benefit from it directly.The level of women's empowerment in 2014 is significantly improved compared with the year of 2008.Therefore,we should encourage women in rural areas to participate in the production training actively,to enjoy the same social resources with the male as far as possible,enhance human capital,and broaden the channels to increase revenue.3.The women's empowerment is a significant factor affecting the food security in rural households.It was found that via multiple regression and PSM model,women's empowerment has a significant positive effect on improving food security.Therefore,it should be encourage women in rural areas to participate in community activities actively.For more right to speak,access to more social capital,so as to ensure family food security.4.Women's empowerment is more likely to affect food security at a lower level.That is to say,the lower level of family food security,the women's empowerment is more effective.Therefore,to increase the propaganda of nutrition diet,broaden the access to information about nutrition improvement and care for children in poor rural areas,to help to improve family food security and dietary pattern.
