The Study On The Impact Of Mobile Phone Use On The Urban Cultural Adaptation Of The New Generation Migrant Workers

The migrant workers have been there for more than 30 years since the government issued the No.1 Central Document to allow farmers to bring their own rations into the city. In the past more than 30 years, a great number of migrant workers have moved into the city where the economic level is more developed compared with their own home. They have contributed their own strength for the city development and weaved a dream of their own hoping for a better life at the same time. Migrant workers have experienced modern urban culture and are eager to integrate into the city during the period. But it is still a long way for them to really integrate into the modern city due to the differences between rural local culture and urban modern culture.More and more rural youth grow up and enter into the city to become the new generation of migrant workers. Compared with the traditional generation of migrant workers, the new generation of migrant workers not only inherits the traditional characteristics, but also has its own characteristics, such as no heavy financial burden of family, stronger learning ability and willingness to integrate. But it's still difficult for them to really adapt to the city life. As Premier Wen Jiabao said in Xinhua in 2010, the new generation of migrant workers has some special difficulties compared with the older generation of migrant workers. For example, they neither have the means of production and are not familiar with the agriculture production, nor can they solve the problem of household registration. Also their love,marriage and children to school have not be solved properly.Aimed at the epochal characteristics of the new generation of migrant workers, this paper studies the mobile use behavior of the new generation of migrant workers, and discusses the influence of mobile use on the process of their urban cultural adaptation in order to provide better reference for the urban cultural adaptation of migrant workers.This paper used the questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews to investigate the mobile use of the new generation of migrant workers and their urban cultural adaptation. The study found that on the one hand, compared with the older generation of migrant workers the new generation of migrant workers become more reliant upon mobile, the usage of mobile become more entertaining and the purpose of buying mobile are more diversified. Their judgment on the information of mobile is more rational and they are more satisfied with the features of mobile at the same time. On the other hand, the mobile use of migrant workers has an impact on the process of their urban cultural adaptation, especially the "cultural behavior","social interaction","ideas and concepts","cultural identity" and so on. In addition, this paper put forward some suggestions from the perspective of government, the media (mobile phone), urban residents,and the new generation of migrant workers, in order to help them to have better life in the city.
