The new generation of migrant workers seek to develop from north and south of Tianshan Mountains to Urumqi, they have besides the characteristics of new generation of migrant workers, and the heterogeneity of minority migrant workers. In the process of adapting to city life, they need face not only their common plight of migrant workers but alsocultural exclusion, thus they are in a dual identity status of vulnerable groups. New generation ethnic minority migrant workers made a positive contribution to the economic development of city, but in many ways, city is still not fully accept them, which makes them free from the edge of the city and the countryside, showing “semi-urban” status.The article is based on the new generation ethnic minority migrant workers in Urumqi and urban adaptability,and the intergenerational divide, from the economic level, social level and cultural level, psychological level to analyze the urban adaptability of the new generation ethnic minority migrant workers. By way of analysing the survey data, Urumqi new generation ethnic minority migrant workers in the economy is in a basic survival state of adaptation; In the aspect of social interaction has obvious trend of “involution”; cultural exclusion is the inner hidden biggest obstacle in the process of adapting to urban life; and their identity is in a state of chaos by themselves. In general, their city adaptability is still in the status of meeting the basic production adaptation, and distance to adapt to urban life will be a long way. According to the present situation of adaptation of the city’s new generation of ethnic minority migrant workers, the author analyzed factors that influencing the adaptability of urban from the government’s macro level to individual micro-level. The government factors mainly consider national policy and the system; social factors peasant workers’ social environment as the background, consider its social network, social resources, and social groups for their attitude; personal factors have two aspects to consider, they are external factors of human capital and the intrinsic factors of psychological spiritual. From above of all, I put forward some countermeasures and Suggestions the that from corresponding government level, social level and individual level, so I do ask questions, analyze problems and solve the problem.
