The German Democratic Republic joined the Federal Republic of Germany at the end of the Cold War to achieve the German reunification again.Germany continued to stay in the same camp with the United States and other Western countries after the reunification,in the mean time,Germany was also trying to seek a way to achieve diplomatic "normalization",and hoping to participate in international affairs as an independent sovereign state,as well as take more of the international responsibilities in order to improve Germany's position as a political power in the international community. However, different attitudes had been adopted by Germany towards different regional conflicts,Germany actively tried to be involved in the settlement of regional conflicts sometimes but held quite a negative attitude in other times. For example,Germany actively got involved in the issues of the Kosovo War,the Afghanistan War and the Ukrainian Crisis while it took a more negative and cautious attitude towards the Iraq War,the Libyan Crisis and the Syrian Crisis. In summary,Germany was more actively involved in regional conflicts most of the times in the case of a clear statement by the Western allies, this feature was quite obvious especially in the first ten years of the reunification;Secondly,Germany would actively intervene with matters related to the interests of Germany, such as the Afghanistan War that mainly fights against terrorism;Again,Germany would actively intervene in regional conflicts within the framework of the UN Security Council and the level of non-military strike, and the typical representative event is the Ukrainian Crisis. But with the influence of the rise of German strength and German social values,Germany is not always so actively involved in regional conflicts. The stronger the strength of Germany is,the stronger the independence of foreign policy is and the more cautious the involvement of regional conflicts is.Germany hopes to maintain its own national interests and remain its independence while dealing with regional conflicts, and it is not willing to follow other big countries actively. In addition, the values and ideas of German society are also playing a role, and weakening the enthusiasm of German getting involved in regional conflicts through the election of politics. The people are more inclined to choose not to engage in regional conflicts while being well aware of the suffering of the war due to the torture of the two World Wars;It gives politicians prudent treatment of regional conflicts since the parties need to win votes from the people during the electoral period.
