A Study On International Cooperation In Migration Management In Canada

With the further development of globalization,the scope and speed of world migration have been drastically increasing;migration issues has become the great concern of countries all over the world.The management of migration of an individual involves his nationality,the country of origin,the country of transit and the country of destination,which inevitably will lead to the establishment of the international relationship,the implementation and accomplishment of migration management work through international cooperation.As a typical immigration country,Canada has attracted a large number of immigrants from all over the world by its experienced and efficient migration policy and migration management practices,and has become one of the most popular destination countries in the world.With the international cooperation in migration management in Canada being the research area in this paper,this paper intends to explore means,focuses and effects of international cooperation,and study the enlightenment drawn from it for the relevant research area in our country.The paper consists of four chapters:Chapter one analyses the international cooperation in migration management on the basis of the theory regarding global governance,the international regime and international law,then briefly introduces definitions relevant to migration management.Chapter two introduces Canada's migration policy,the status of migration and institutions responsible for migration management in Canada.Chapter three is the core of the paper and mainly concerns means,focuses and effects of international cooperation in migration management in Canada.Firstly,the paper explores means of international cooperation in migration management in Canada,which are multilateral cooperation,bilateral cooperation and foreign assistant.Secondly,the paper summarizes focuses of international cooperation in migration management in Canada,which are border control,combating migrant trafficking and smuggling,introducing temporary labor migrants and limiting applications of the refugees.Finally,the paper evaluates the effects of international cooperation in migration management in Canada from two aspects which are positive effect and negative effect.Chapter four points out the enlightenment for China from three aspects which are cooperation with international and regional organizations,border management and dealing with refugee crisis.
