From 2010,as the South China Sea dispute continues to escalation,Australia has also begun to intervene the issue of the South China Sea.As a "middle power" in the Asia—Pacific region,Australia's intervening in the South China Sea dispute is the result of various factors, including economic and security interests,US?Australia alliance,China—Australia relationship. At present,Australia's South China Sea policy primarily focuses on the construction of the islands, freedom of navigation, and the South China Sea Arbitration case.In the process of implementing specific policies,Australia's South China Sea policy presents three basic f-eatures:preventing China from"controlling" the South China Sea,avoiding intervening alone by enhancing cooperation with related countries of the South China Sea issue, showing certain ambiguity of policy orientation. In the future,Australia's South China Sea policy is,on the whole, moving towards relaxation.but Australia will continue hype in the South China Sea.However,Australia has formed a“Double Dependence" situation with China and the US.With the further development of Sino-US game in the South China Sea,the strategic choice of Australia's South China Sea policy becomes harder.Against Australia's unwarranted interference in the South China Sea dispute,China should take some corresponding countermeasures as followed:promoting the steady and sound development of China—Australia relations, managing differences over the South China Sea issue, guiding public opinion in the South China Sea to depress Australia's involvement in the South China Sea.This paper is divided into four chapters with the main contents as followed:The first chapter mainly introduces the background of Australia's involvement in the South China Sea dispute. From the economic and security perspective,Australia has important national interests in the South China Sea.The strength of US—Australia relationship and the implementation of the Asia Pacific rebalancing strategy accelerate the pace of Australia's involvement in the South China Sea affairs. In addition,Australia's concerns about "the rise of China" breaking the balance of regional power takes a significant role in the formation of Australia's South China Sea policy. The second chapter elaborates the main contents of Australia's South China Sea policy. As to targeting the China's construction of the South China Sea islands-Australian government criticize China's coercive actions undermine regional peace and stability. As the Asia—Pacific country near the South China Sea,Australian government analyzes the South China Sea situation on the issue of the freedom of navigation, and accuses China of violating freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea.Furtuermore,in terms of the South China Sea Arbitration case, the Australian government calls on China to abide international laws and final decision.Australia's approach has a negative impact on the South China Sea dispute. The third chapter mainly analyzes the features of the Australia's South China Sea.In the perspective of "security dilemma",Australia's South China Sea is inclined to prevent China from "controlling" the South China Sea.At the same time,in the process of intervening the South China Sea dispute,Australia gives a voice in the South China Sea issue by enhancing bilateral cooperation with the country related to the South China Sea dispute. Moreover, with the continuous promotion of a "Double Dependence"relations of the Australia both with the China and the US,Australia's South China Sea policy shows certain ambiguity of policy orientation. The fourth chapter is the analysis on the trend of Australia's South China Sea andChina's countermeasures.Australia's South China Sea policy will move towards relaxation and stay within a certain limit in the future. But Australia will use partial hot issue to take multilateral diplomacy so as to achieve its strategic target in the South China Sea.In terms of the Australia's involvement in the South China Sea dispute,Chinese government should energetically promote the steady and sound development of China-Australia relations, and Chinese government manage differences over the South China Sea dispute from China—Australia,China—US and China—ASEAN.In addition, for the purpose of maintaining rights protection and stability maintenance of the South China Sea,while using diplomacy,China still should properly guild public opinion in the South China Sea.Overall, with the South China Sea dispute heating up,and considering the comprehensive function of domestic and international factors,Australia gradually abandons their neutrality in the South China Sea dispute and uses the hotpot of the South China Sea to fake public opinions which is bad for China, thus becomes an attention-arrested disturber in recent years.Although Australia's intervention has detrimental effect on the settlement of the South China Sea dispute, the intensity of intervening can't determine the trend of the situation. Moreover,in "Double Dependence" situation with China and the US,Australia's South China Sea diplomatic space is compressed. However,in the future,Australia will follow the United States in the South China Sea dispute to counter China. In this regard.Chinese government should actively take multi-dimension countermeasures to minimize the negative effects and protect national interest of China.
