Research Of Information Isolated Islands In Universities’ Functional Department Based On Ontology Integration

With the advent of the era of big data,information has began to show a massive growth,information has become an important strategic resource determines the outcome of organization in the new era,the functional departments in universities as an organization is no exception.In order to improve the quality of management,universities established a number of department,these departments have played a significant role in promoting the development of universities.Informatization is the sign of era develop,in order to improve the efficiency of teaching and researching,the various functional departments have invested a lot of money for construction of information technology,with the establishment of information system in functional departments,the university departments need to process more and more professional business across the functional department units,the information sharing requirements across functional units also become more and more urgent.Within the various departments,mass information growth disorderly,the trend in era of big data increases difficulty of extracting valuable information,boundaries of the various departments in universities have increased this disorder,boundaries have also increased the difficulty of information sharing,resulting in a lot of information isolated islands which can’t cross it.For various university departments,how to break this information isolated silos,to achieve barrier-free flow of information has become an urgent problem need to address.So for a number of different sectors,they need to establish a fully functional integrated information sharing platform,shielding the information gap between organizations to promote barrier-free flow of information.At present,the traditional ways to propose heterogeneous data was mainly to build data warehouse.the establish of data warehouses cumbersome and costly,also the maintenance of data warehouse was costly.Based on the in-depth study of ontology theory,ontology integration was applied to the integration and sharing platform,through the construction of a unified ontology for the various functional departments to achieve information sharing,eliminate the information silos.This paper analyzes the current situation of informatization in universities’functional departments,analyses the isolated island problems of information in departments of universities,in order to solve this issue,the author proposed using ontology integration method integrating information to solve this problem.First of all,this paper studies ontology integration that can be used to solve the problem of information silos,which is the theoretical basis of the functional departments in universities to promote information sharing.Secondly,analyzing heterogeneous data of the functional departments in universities,the analysis combined the previous research analysis,using multi-disciplinary knowledge,from multiple perspectives of management,technology,analyzing the information islated islands phenomenon of functional departments in universities and adverse effects of the phenomenon.Finally,based on analysis of the use of traditional methods such as data warehousing method to solve the problem of heterogeneous data,drawing on the advantages of ontology technology approach,from the perspective of ontology engineering,and proposed heterogeneous data integration model of functional department in university based on ontology integration,which can integrate data of departments in universities,Realizing heterogeneous data integration and sharing of university departments.
