Genealogy Information Administration And Visualization Based On GIS

Family Tree is a life history of a family. It describes the origin of the family and migration routes and includes all the concerning history and culture of the family concerned. At present, the general family tree is not easy to carry and browse. Its spatiality and visualization of migration visibility are restricted. Because of the improper storage or age-old, some books have been moldy, moth-eaten or lost. So how to effectively integrate, manage and use vast amounts of family trees data is one of the research hotspots in research area of GIS socialization development.With the development of GIS technology, GIS is becoming more and more close to our daily life,especially when many GIS products, such as Google Earth, to be used widely. GIS technology has been increasingly integrated into people's life. The development of GIS technology laid foundation for the study of family tree.Takes the idea of "Su's family tree", chooses a simulate family tree in Henan Province as the research object and builds the family tree spatial database. Based on GIS theory and technology, this paper uses of SQL Server, Visual Studio, ArcEngine and Develop Express, developed the family tree information system, and achieved some functions, such as spatial inquiry, routes visualization of migration. The main work as follows:(1) Analysis the features of family tree and characteristics of the family tree GIS data organization; create a SQL Server database to manage basic information of family tree; Create a GeoData Base to complete the management of maps and attributes.(2)Based on GIS spatial analysis theory, the family tree can be displayed in clear hierarchical, realized the inquiry on family tree relations based on member information, location and relations.(3)Besides the basic functions of GIS, this system also completes the visualization on family members' migration routes.This research takes the development of socialization and popularization of GIS as the research background and integrates the GIS with family tree.The organizational model on information from family tree has been analyzed in this paper. Based on thecore data model of family tree, this study builds a Geodatabase spatial database,develops a family tree GIS system and moves the paper family tree into the map. The aim of this paper is not only to demonstrate the practicality of GIS technology, but also to show the advanced technology of GIS.
