The atomic structure is the basic theory knowledge of chemistry.Learning the theory can help students deepen and understand a lot of materials and their transformation problems.It is very important for students to know the material microscopic structure,to predicate the chemical properties of the matter and to understand the process of chemical reaction.Due to the abstract and theoretical of the atomic structure,students feel it is difficult to understand it.It belongs to the important and difficult points.Therefore,many scholars and teachers give highlight on atomic structures.The topic research questions are:(1)to survey middle school students' understanding to atomic structure;(2)to know the difficulties middle school students met in learning the atomic structure;(3)According to these above factors,some corresponding suggestions are given.284 middle school students are chosen as the subjects of the research.Combining the previous learning and teaching research on the atomic structure,as well as under the guidance of the curriculumstandard and textbooks,the thesis finds some possible problems existed among students in learning the atomic structure.The questionnaires are distributed to investigate different grade students' understanding to the atomic structure and related contents,as well as their learning difficulties.Different questionnaires are classified according to different grades.By analyzing the results of questionnaires from different grades,the researcher masters the current situation and existing problems of students' learning the atomic structure,and then the reasons are concluded.The conclusions of the research are listed as follows:(1)In the area of understanding the content,in a word,middle students have not really understood the atomic structure.Specifically,in the area of understanding the content of atomic structure,junior 3 students' understanding is better than senior 1 and 2 students;In the area of understanding the content of shell,Senior 2 students have the best understanding and students in Senior 1 are lack of imagination;In the area of understanding the content of extra-nuclear electron movement,middle students are at low levels,in which the senior 1students are at the lowest level.On the understanding of the energy level,middle students did not reach the requirements that continued to deepen of curriculum standard;In the area of understanding the content of electron cloud,Senior 2 students do not form electroncloud imagination and are at lower levels.Students mechanically remember and they fail to understand and apply it.(2)In the aspect of related explanation,in a word,students' understanding is in the general level.Specifically,in the aspect of understanding to the value of the atomic structure,middle students are in the general level,and they could not use atomic structure theory to explain related contents,in which Senior 2 student have the lower understanding to the value;in the aspect of understanding to the value of the chemical reaction,Junior 3 and Senior 1 students' understanding is at the same level and is are at higher levels.(3)In the aspect of studying difficulties,middle students do not know the atomic structure in the model,thinking and energy levels,and are lack of model thinking.Senior 2 students have difficulties in electron cloud and extra-nuclear electron movement.Finally,put forward the following suggestions:(1)teachers should realize teaching the importance of the atomic structure;(2)teachers should attach importance to teach related knowledge of the atomic structure.
