English writing plays a practical role in today's international communication.English writing is essential in high school English teaching.According to the national college entrance examination in recent 5 years,the writing part is nearly English practical writing.Evidently,English practical writing teaching is important.But the current situation of English practical writing teaching in high school is unsatisfied.Students have a kind of conflicting psychology and the lack of interest in the English practical writing,which leads to the low English writing proficiency;the traditional writing teaching methods are inefficient,which results in the dull classroom atmosphere and less interaction between the teacher and students.Therefore,this paper will explore the effect of the combination of the English practical writing teaching and the situational teaching.Situational teaching reflects the new educational values in line with the objective reality of English writing.According to English writing task,situational teaching can create vivid and specific situations to make students experience.Interactive and cooperative situations help teachers solve the problem that students cannot write effectively.This study randomly selects 100 students from two parallel classes in Grade 1 in Hui'an No.1 High School as research objects and it attempts to apply situational teaching to English practical writing teaching.During the experiment,a questionnaire,pre-test and post-test are used to collect data.After the experiment,in order to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the experimental hypothesis,the experimental data is contrastively analyzed by SPSS.The results show that the application of situational teaching to Senior English practical writing can improve students writing scores;compared with the Product Approach of writing,the application of situational teaching to Senior English practical writing can effectively improve students writing ability;based on situational teaching,English practical writing teaching can stimulate the students' interest in practical writing and establish their confidence.To sum up,situational teaching used in English practical writing teaching can cover the shortage of Product Approach and has some certain significance in improving the writingteaching in senior high schools.
