Common law is one of the two major legal systems in the world today. The system of case law, the principle of follow precedent and the principle of program prior for rights are principles and system of common law. The system of legal principles formed the English medieval feudal social system and made a profound impact on modern Britain and the former colonies of the British Empire. It formed the basis of common law in the social and political system. Common law developed more than one thousand years in the medieval feudal society and become the formation and development of modern society. The unique cultural tradition and humanistic care deeply influenced British culture, so it is necessary to explore the cause and effect of the influence of the historical roots of the traditional culture and the development process and to study the historical process of the English legal modernization of modern common law and how to the influence the world.In the countries and regions in the influence of common law, the university has a unique cultural characteristics and education of free tradition. A study on the statutes of the university from the perspective of the common law can be said to be constitution of the university. The constitution has an important impact on the common law. Each individual has a strong sense of the rule of law in the countries in the influence of common law. It is firstly need to do is to find a basis method. This makes the group under the common law to work in accordance with the law. Therefore, the statutes of the university in the countries of common law is not a dead letter, it accorded to the rules of the code of conduct and rule. The statutes of the university from the perspective of the common law is accurately the charter of the university.The article is divided into four parts, the first part is the introduction part which mainly introduces dissertations reason, study topics and sums up domestic and foreign relevant documents. The second part will collect materials to introduce the development of common law and the significance of the common law. It also introduces the evolution process of English cultural tradition of common law spirit. The third part introduces the development process of English medieval universities and relevant analysis of the statutes of Oxford university and analyses the statues of Merton college and new college. The fourth part is to discuss the relation between internal governance of the university on the perspective of common law and the statutes of the university. Finally I will make this paper further perfect and summarized.
