Wang Guirong(1899-1949) who devoted himself to the research of mathematical education, was an educator in the period of the Republic of China. From 1921 to 1948, he actively participated in the reforms of mathematical education, and did a lot of research work on mathematical textbook, teaching experiment, and teaching method. He was good at both research work and primary-middle school education. Meanwhile, we don't have an overall introduction to Mr. Wang. By consulting related information and combining with the background of the age, this thesis studies the textbooks of Wang Guirong from the aspects of scheduling system, teaching content and its presentation, and difficulties of exercises. The author studies all the published papers of Mr.Wang, in order to completely represent his teaching activity and learn this educator's excellent character. There's four part of this thesis:Chapter One: Introduction. The main contents are the reason, objection and significance of the thesis, the research status, research ideas, methods and innovative points.Chapter Two: Life experience of Wang Guirong. This part introduces Wang's academic achievements, educational activities and evaluations fromhis future generations, and explores his ideas, principles and advises on compiling textbooks and curriculum development.Chapter Three: Textbooks of Wang Guirong. This part systematically arranges and studies his textbooks from the aspects of his educational research, preface, writing patterns, ideas, characteristics and contents. The author studies the contents of his textbooks and discusses his research on the construction of teaching materials.Chapter Four: Research on the teaching method of mathematics. By studying his published papers, the author summarizes the psychological basis,principles and methods of her mathematical teaching activities and wishes to set them as reference.This thesis systematically summarizes Wang's contributions to the mathematical teaching, his teaching activities, tireless research spirit,scientific habits and attitude. It's also deeply analyses his idea on mathematical education and provides enlightenment and reference to current teaching activities.
