With the development of modern science and technology, the high technology electronic products emerged. The electronic products are also used in modern teaching. It has many different methods between modern and traditional teaching. The traditional teaching method was that teachers taught them through speaking and listening. But the multimedia teaching using pictures, videos, colors, teachers' gestures make the class more vivid. The way of teaching is called the multimodal teaching. The multimodal teaching is based on the multimodal discourse analysis theory.The multimodal discourse analysis came from western country in 1990 s.Although the multimodal teaching has emerged from few years, it has applied to many fields, such as language teaching. The multimodal discourse analysis has emerged from the earlier of 21 stcentury. Many researches about multimodal teaching have already been in its initial stage. It is just the hot topic that we have discussed.Most countries research the students' multimodal learning in recent years and advocate the educational reform in 1996. Thus, the educational circles realized the significance of multimodal teaching. Theorganizational form of teaching adopts in middle school or primary school in English class of China. The research is based on investigation of three grades in Attached Middle School to Inner Mongolia Normal University. The research adopts three methods that are the questionnaires,interviews and classroom observation. Firstly, we realize the level of mastering the multimodal teaching among students and teachers through students' and teachers' questionnaires. Secondly, we know the current situation and influence on multimodal teaching among teachers and students' interviews. Finally, classroom observation has played a significant role in multimodal teaching. It is further proved the research after questionnaires and interviews in order to reflect the teaching situation clearly and directly in class.The study is about the current situation of multimodal teaching in English class of senior high school. And what are the students and teachers' attitudes towards multimodal teaching. In the study we acknowledged that most of the teachers and students have played a positive role in multimodal teaching. 47% of the students support the multimodal teaching and 50% of the teachers support teaching with multi-modality. The research of the multimodal teaching has been located in its initial stage. The multimodal teaching is still at a groping stage. The research has great significance in English teaching of senior high school.
