Reading and writing are closely related. Reading provides input for writing, and writing in turn tests the effect of reading. In the teaching practice, however, the separation of reading and writing still exists. The introduction of English newspaper reading into junior middle school English writing class can effectively solve this problem, and it can also cultivate junior middle school students' writing ability.This study is based on literature concerning English newspaper reading and writing at home and abroad, including Krashen's theory of language input and Swan's output hypothesis, cooperative learning theory and latest empirical studies relevant to the topic.The author makes an experiment in her writing class, and employs test scores,questionnaire and interview to find out the effects of her teaching innovation.The research project proves that integrating English newspaper reading and writing is an effective way to help students expand their vocabulary, increase grammar knowledge and whet their communication skills, which will improve students' English writing performance.This thesis presents the quantitative study results in tables and then analyzes the statistics. Based on the analysis, the author of this thesis points out the pedagogical implications for future teaching of English deduced from the statistics and analysis.In the concluding part, the author summarizes the major points of the study and points out the limitations of the current research. Finally the author sets forth some suggestions for future research.
