Since the situation of Western learning spread to the East which changed in the late Qing Dynasty, Chinese Confucianism was impacted by western civilization in the political, economic, cultural and ideological field. As the imperial examination system and the autocratic monarchy ended up their mission, it had brought a heavy blow to Chinese Confucianism. The text mainly divides into three parts.The first part mainly discusses that with the deepening of national crisis, traditional autocratic monarchy had been gradually difficult to be continued, so people began to question and criticize the knowledge system of Confucianism. At this stage, the modern meaning of 'Chinese traditional learning' began to appear frequently. At the same time, intellectuals began to explore the outlet of Chinese culture.The second part mainly explains that until the New Culture Movement started, the criticism which Confucianism had suffered reached the peak. Of course, In the time of this unprecedented crisis, Confucianism realized its modern transformation quietlyThe third part mainly discusses that Confucianism broke away from the meaning of political ideology aspect and gradually turned to traditional knowledge connotation of culture. The study on Confucianism was carried out in the new period by the first leading institution of The School of Sinological Research at Peking University. The first institution was founded in 1922, which consist of Gu Mengyu, Shen Jianshi, Li Dazhao, Ma Yuzao, Zhu Xizu, Hu Shi, Qian Xuantong and Zhou Zuoren.With the establishment of the Republic of China, the monarchy system which Confucianism depended on also did not exist. Confucianism rose by politics and also faded because of politics. Confucianism not only was under siege because of the system of modern western education,but also opened a new connotation because of modern science departmental system.
