In primary English teaching, the new lesson teaching, the intake-based lesson and the revision lesson are the three types of lessons. English teachers have attached less attention to the revision lessons. The revision lesson is usually carelessly prepared and the effect of revision is relatively poorly achieved. Moreover the research studies in the field of revision lessons are far from satisfactory. Confronting the current tide of the new curriculum reform, some teachers begin to pay attention to the revision lessons. Others are trying to do some researches about the revision lessons and practice in class. However, the teaching model of English revision lessons in primary schools in our country is still in exploring and initial stage, and most of the studies are more focused on introductions of foreign theories and experience of teaching. Therefore, this research is trying to explore TAI, which is a model of revision lesson, to examine the effect of students‘ English learning through an experimental classroom teaching process. All the subjects in the experiments were the Grade Four students. The present study adopts the methodology of teaching experiment design and survey research, with focus on exploring the following two research questions:(1) Can TAI Revision Model improve primary school students‘ English proficiency?(2) Does TAI Revision Model enhance students‘ autonomy of revision? The experiment was conducted in two parallel classes, which lasted for one semester, from February 2015 to July 2015. Eighty-eight students from Guangzhou Tangxia Primary School participated in the experiment. A pre-test was conducted in the Experimental Class with 44 students and in the Controlled Class with 44 students. The pre-test results showed that there was no significant difference between students from both classes in English proficiency level. When it came to intervention, the TAI revision lesson model was carried out in Experimental Class during the review stage. After intervention, a post-test was conducted between the two classes and a comparison was carried out in order to check the effect of the TAI Revision Model. The results of the research show: 1) Independent sample T test with the results of protest and posttest conducted in two classes shows that the students‘ English proficiency in the Experimental Class which employ the TAI Revision Model is higher than the Control Class. It can be seen that the mean score of the EC is higher than the CC TAI Revision Lesson Model can improve primary school students‘ English proficiency. 2) According to the data analysis, the result with two times survey investigations shows that the TAI Revision Model has positive effects on primary school students‘ autonomy of revision. The students in the Experimental Class review what they have learnt more autonomously than before the experiment. The study came to the conclusion that the TAI Revision Model can improve primary school students‘ English proficiency. In addition, the TAI Revision Model can promote the students‘ autonomy of revision.TAI Revision Model is developed and it is employed in the teaching experiment. It is a productive inquiry for improving the revision lessons. We hope that more research studies in the field will be conducted and more effective models for the revision lessons will be developed in the future.
