Revision lesson is not only the process of reviewing the learned knowledge systematically and comprehensively, but also helps students to reconstruct and integrate the knowledge as well as the process of further improving the learning ability. Therefore, English revision lesson should not only help students review what has been learned and learn something new from it, but also help them organize knowledge and organize knowledge networks. Meanwhile, it is also the process of encouraging students to reflect on autonomous learning, improve their learning ways and abilities, and form good habits of autonomous and independent leaning. However, in teaching and learning practice, revision lesson does not function to the full because of the repeated revision content of the textbooks, the boring grammar knowledge and numerous exercise. The long-standing practical problem of English revision lesson is that its efficiency is not high and its effectiveness is not good. For example, the teacher always talks too much, resulting in lessening the time for students to think over and apply the knowledge; students practice too much exercise, resulting in the unconstructed knowledge system, the boring and inefficient duplicative class and with no summative feedback after the exercise; laissez-fair and independent review will make the class out of control easily, resulting in the blind review.At present, a new model of instruction, known as "leaning plan guidance", is being widely practiced in many primary and secondary schools in China. "Leaning Plan Guidance", also known as "Guided Learning Plan", refers to the model in which guided learning plan is a carrier, guided learning is an approach that teachers guide students automatic learning and they fulfill teaching tasks through their joint effort (邱春秋,2011: 63). The instruction of leaning plan guidance is based on the learning plan, puts learning in the first place, gives prominence to the centered position of students and focus on their autonomous learning. Nowadays, it has been widely accepted and used in the primary and middle schools in China.The research puts the new teaching model of using the learning plan guidance into the English revision lesson in junior high school and tries to answer the following two questions:(1) What kind of problems and shortcomings exist in learning plan teaching model in the current English revision lesson in junior high school? (2) What kind of learning plan guidance in English revision lesson is effective to junior high school students?The author chose two classes in Grade Seven in one junior high school in Wuhan as research subjects and divided them as the experimental class and control class through questionnaires, interviews and teaching practice. Firstly, the author knew that the two classes were at the almost same English level by comparing their entrance examination results and interviewing their English teacher. Then in English revision lesson, the experimental class applied the learning plan teaching model while the control class used the traditional way of teaching after comparing their first monthly exam. After that, the author conducted the questionnaire again, and used the Excel 2003 to analyze the results and interviewed the English teacher and parts of students from the experimental class. The author also analyzed the several scores of the two classes with SPSS 16.0.Through the data and analysis of the experimental results, the author got the following findings:the learning plan guidance teaching model is effective to the junior high school students in English revision lesson and has its advantages and it is better than the traditional teaching model. It can improve students’ English scores and strengthen their autonomous learning consciousness and ability to some extent.Finally, the author puts forward with suggestions about designing and implementing the learning plan guidance in English revision lesson in accordance with the developmental characteristics of junior high students and also provides the limitations of this study for the later research according to the research results and findings.
