Under the impact of the internationalization of higher education, institutions and teachers attach more and more importance to international experience such as overseas study, overseas visit study, overseas postdoctoral work and so on, and teachers with cross-border international experience are also favored by colleges and universities in the hiring and promotion. This study uses Knight’s theory framework of internationalization of higher education for reference, inspects university teachers’ understanding and attitude towards internationalization, analyses their motivation and obstacle in their international participation, studies the effect of cross-border international experience on their academic profession, and uses the SWOT analysis to analyze the internal strengths & weaknesses and external opportunities & challenges that university teachers meet in the process of acquiring overseas international experience, to explore the effective approach that integrate cross-border international experience into academic profession.The result shows:the understanding of university teachers for internationalization is not comprehensive, but they have strong consciousness and willingness for international participation; They get cross-border international experience is mainly for economic, social/cultural and academic motivation such as professional competition and promotion, cultural understanding and vision development, teaching and scientific research; their practice is restricted by factors like family, language and culture, knowledge and ability, administrative system and so on; these cross-border internationalization experience affect their teaching and scientific research, and the aspect and the degree of influence varied from teachers’ personal details; teachers’ acquisition for cross-border international experience is influenced by the advantages & disadvantages from the internal environment and opportunities & threats from the external environment, therefore, to integrate the academic profession effectively with teachers’ international experience, which need joint endeavors of education departments, institutions and teachers in consciousness of internationalization, investment in internationalization and comprehensive abilities.
