English grammar is always the emphasis and difficulty of English teaching in junior middle school.The traditional grammar teaching has made the students lose the learning enthusiasm and participation initiative,which hinders the improvement of students' English level.Based on the importance and the urgency of the reform on English grammar in junior middle school,this thesis proposes the experiential teaching mode.Experiential grammar teaching takes students as the center and the task as the foundation,which lets the students discover the principles of using English through the concrete experience and apply the rules to English communication.Experiential English grammar teaching,which takes situational teaching as the principle,makes students perceive language by designing language activities of combining the form and the meaning so that the students can discover grammar rules by thinking,analyzing and induction.Grammatical phenomenon can also be recurred repeatedly in the adequate contextual support.Experiential grammar teaching reflects the new ideas of discovery and exploration,practice and application,task-based activities,autonomous learning and cooperative learning in the new curriculum standards.Therefore,the thesis puts forward three specific research questions,as follows:(1)In what way(s)can experiential teaching enhance students' interests in learning English grammar?(2)How does experiential teaching help to improve students' English grammar study?(3)Why is this teaching approach so effective in students' grammar learning?The author selects 60 students of the two classes in Grade 8 of a junior middle school in Anshan as the research subjects for 16-week teaching experiment.The research instruments are questionnaires,tests and interview.The relevant data will be analyzed statistically by using SPSS software.The results of the research will confirm that experiential grammar teaching has largely stimulated grammar learning interest of junior middle school students andimproved their comprehensive ability to apply grammar.The students have experienced the glamour of experiential grammar teaching in the autonomous learning and collaborative communication.This teaching approach can make up for the deficiency of the traditional grammar teaching,which has certain implication significance to English grammar teaching practice of junior middle school in future.
