<The Geography Curriculum Standard of Full-time Compulsory Education(2011) >purpose that we should build open geography courses, in order to cultivate students' innovation consciousness and practical abilities. At the same time, encourage students to autonomic learning, cooperation and communication, and inquiry actively, we should purpose the diversified geographical studying methods. Therefore, to cultivate the students' inquiry ability and consciousness are particularly important. Inquiry Teaching can stimulate students' creative thinking, cultivate the students' ability of inquiry and practice, and finally contribute to the students' life-long learning and total development. However, by the survey of the teachers in Henan rural areas, I found that they lack understanding of the nature of Inquiry Teaching, there are also some questions in the process of using the Inquiry Teaching. So what's the current situation of Inquiry Teaching, of Henan Province? What are the problems in promoting the Inquiry Teaching? How to facilitate the development of Inquiry Teaching in our province? Under the background of new curriculum reform, this research has a strong practical significance.By using the methods of literature, questionnaire, interviewing, statistical analysis and summarizing, I started my research. First of all, I realized the research status of Inquiry Teaching in our country by reading the related literature, then by the method of interviewing, questionnaire and statistical analysis, I knew the present situation of Inquiry Teaching, and what put its development off in Henan province, and finally I put forward the improving strategies to promote the development of Inquiry Teaching in the village areas of Henan province.By the survey of current situation of Inquiry Teaching in rural areas of Henan province, I found that the current situation is not optimistic in the following aspects:(1) Most of the teachers know little or basic information about Inquiry Teaching.(2) Majority of the teachers using little or never use Inquiry Teaching.(3) Half of the teachers know unilateral about Inquiry Teaching's nature. By farther analysis I found that the majority reasons which result the current situation of Inquiry Teaching in Henan province are the teacher's lacking the comprehensive knowledge, the students' lack the ability of inquiry, the teaching time's limit and the effect of evaluate mechanism.Aiming at the current situation of Inquiry Teaching in Henan rural areas, I put forward the following improvement strategies to promote the development of Inquiry Teaching from the aspects of teacher, student and school. To teachers, expanding their knowledge, participating in everyday training, updating teaching ideas, improving double charm; in students, developing the geographical inquiry abilities, cultivating geographical studying interests, using the organizations of students; in terms of school, enhancing the principal leaders' training, improving the hardware facilities, changing the evaluation systems, innovate the class organization forms.The innovation points of this study lies in the study object. I take the Inquiry Teaching of Henan rural areas as the study object, by questionnaire know the current situation of Inquiry Teaching, and found why they are, and finally by the reasons propose the strategies which are high relevant.
