Chemistry is a study on material compositions, structures, properties and its variation law of natural science on the molecular and atomic levels. Under the guidance of the ideas of new curriculum reform, we pay much more attention to the cultivation of students' chemistry concept. The changes of the material' properties are reflected in the macroscopic variability as well as the reflection of the changes of particles composition, therefore, it's necessary for us to study the mysteries of the constituents of materials in order to explain the essence of their changes. "Micro-concept about matter" is an important idea to cultivate students to study chemistry, so it's necessary to have a research on the micro-concept about matter that the ninth grade students have owned.This paper is based on the third chapter "the mysteries of the material composition" of chemical teaching materials of the 2012 edition of the people's education press, and through the survey and analysis on the differences in the cognition's levels of students that are gifted, average and poor in learning on the basic, higher and advanced level of knowledge in the chapter "the mysteries of the material composition", we find that all of these three kinds of students have a good cognition on the higher and advanced level of knowledge. The gifted students can achieve "understanding", "explanations", "instructions" and "distinguish" for the higher level of knowledge whereas those average and poor can only approach "knows", "understanding", "find out" and "expression" for the low level of knowledge and have some difficulties in the cognitive level of "understanding".The main reason is that these two kinds of students are not able to find a suitable learning method in studying this chapter and building up the concept of "particles" in chemistry. Through the survey of students' difficulties in cognition and teachers' interviews, the author put forward efficient teaching strategies and planed agreeable teaching designs according to students' cognition.In the practical process of teaching, it?s convenient for students to absorb and accept the knowledge difficulties by solving the problems such as the basic concepts, chemical terms and chemical calculations of the chapters of the mystery of material one by one through adopting a variety of principles so as to make the difficulties dispersed; pay attention to the flexible use of various teaching strategies and design teaching project according to their aptitude.
