With the introduction of probability and statistics into high school mathematics learning, whether students can understand the concept of probability and statistics, and comprehend the random thought, statistical thought and probabilistic thinking, largely depend on teachers' understanding. As a future mathematics teacher, mathematics normal students' cognitive level obviously has an important impact on Mathematics Teaching in high school. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to evaluate mathematics normal students' cognitive level of probability and statistics in high school by compiling a test questionnaire. This paper mainly includes four parts: The first part mainly elaborates the research background, research content, research methods, research meaning and research status, and introduces the definition of knowledge of probability and statistics in high school and the evaluation method of cognitive level. In the second part,a probabilistic test questionnaire is designed from the four dimensions of "random events","probability definition","probability formula" and "random variables".Then, mathematics normal students in Grade One and Grade Three are selected as the research objects. Finally,SOLO method is used to evaluate their cognitive level of probability knowledge. The results show that mathematics normal students in Grade Three have obviously improved their cognitive level, and have basically mastered probability knowledge in high school, but the understanding depth of some contents still needs to be improved. For example,41.9% of the students understand exclusive events at the U level;less than 10% of the students understand the probability statistical definition above the R level;nearly half of the students understand the binomial distribution below the M level. The third part designs the statistical test questionnaire from the four dimensions of "basic concept of statistics","descriptive statistics","statistical test methods" and "statistical analysis methods",selects mathematics normal students in Grade Tree as the research objects, use statistical method to analyze their cognitive level of statistical knowledge. The results show that mathematics normal students have a good command of statistical knowledge, but the breadth and depth of understanding need to be improved.Such as,only 6.1% of the students know that Statistics has become the first-class discipline;more than 80% of the students cannot fully understand the Histogram;only 25.5% of the students understand the Hypotheses Testing Method, etc.Based on the above investigation and research, the last part of this paper analyses the reasons that cause the status quo of mathematics normal students' cognitive level about probability and statistics, and puts forward some suggestions for these reasons.
