English writing is a top priority in senior high school.However,English writing is a huge challenge for students in English learning.Under the influence of the traditional writing teaching methods,there exist many problems in students' English writing.Students aren't interested in English writing.They are beset by “what to write” and “how to write”.Fear and helplessness have an impact on their motivation and confidence in English writing.Therefore,it is an issue of concern for teachers to cultivate students' English writing and improve their writing ability.And it is urgent to seek a new teaching model for English writing.In recent years,scholars have studied on English teaching from the perspective of Cognitive Linguistics,which provides a new perspective for English teaching.Cognitive Reference Point(shortened as CRP)Model presented by Langacker in 1991 fully reflects the thinking process of human beings.In this paper,CRP Model is employed as the theoretical framework,which is applied to the cognitive process of English writing teaching and makes explanations in order to improve students' English writing interest,and improve students' writing ability.Two classes of First Grade of Dandong No.4 Senior High School are chosen as the subjects.Class One is the Experimental Class(shortened as EC)and Class Two is the Control Class(shortened as CC).CRP Model is used in the EC but the traditional English writing teaching is used in the CC.The instruments including pre-test and post-test of English writing,an interview and questionnaires are employed to collect data and the software SPSS 19.0 is employed to analyze the data collected from the tests results to examine the model for teaching of English writing in senior high school as well as its influence.This thesis aims to find out whether the application of CRP Model can motivate students' interest in English writing of senior high school,and whether the application of CRP Model can improve the students' English writing ability of senior high school.The results show that the high school students' interest in English writing is improved by the application of CRP Model.Besides,their English writing ability has been strongly improved by the application of CRP Model.Moreover,the author also puts forward suggestions on English writing in order to improve English writing teaching and students' writing ability.
