Modern reading which includes two parts(non-optional and choosing) is an impor-tant part in the New Curriculum Standard Volume in the National College Entrance Examination. Non-optional part means that the students must do if they want to get t-he score. The choosing part gives the students part right to choose between the litera ry text and the practical text according to their interests and expertise. Their total sco re is 34. The research target of this paper is modern reading examination in the 2013-2015 National College Entrance Examination New Curriculum Standard Volume. I dis cuss detailed the texts,designing-questions and the checking ability level, then attempt to search the problem-solving strategies to help the students to prepare the text.This paper is composed of four parts. Firstly, I discuss the theoretical basis of question-designing of the modern reading examination in the 2013-2015 National College New Curriculum Standard Volume. Secondly, I analyze detailed the characteristics of the selected materials of the modern reading examination in the second part. Thirdly, I discuss in detail the designing-questions and the ability level of the discussion text?the literary text and the practical text. Finally, I explain the problem-solving strategies by examples.
