With the development of globalization, the communication among countries becomes more and more frequent. Culture of different countries influences each other. Vocabulary is the carrier of language which has close relation with culture. Therefore, penetrating culture into vocabulary teaching can make student learn words better. I take the research in senior high school to prove the function of penetrating culture into words teaching.This essay takes how to penetrate culture into vocabulary teaching into emphasis. Based on this topic, the author takes ninety students in first grade of senior high school in Xingtai,Hebei province as the research subjects starting the four-month research. Through questionnaires,interviews and tests, the author collected the pre-test and post-tests data.In the pre-tests,questionnaires show the present level of students' learning about the cultural meanings of vocabulary. After one semester's experiment, the author collected pro-tests data. In the post-test, based on questionnaires the author learns what attitudes the students hold to theteacher's teaching.Based on the tests,the author knows the students' level to the cultural meanings of vocabulary. After the interviews, students expressed their opinions to teaching methods that the teacher used in the class and pointed teacher's advantages and disadvantages. Finally,through comparing the pro-test and post-test paper scores,the author finds that students in experimental class make students have a big improvement in cultural consciousness. And students can use words efficiently and properly.The results show that to penetrate culture into vocabulary teaching can improve students' vocabulary learning interests and improve students' ability to use words more properly and improve their cultural consciousness.
