Education is an extensive concept, including traditional Confucian education and local traditional education(such as family education, country education or social traditional education,etc.). The focus of this article is about development and influence of the traditional Confucian education in Qiandongnan. The traditional Confucian education is an education system which is on the basis of Confucian and mainly promoted by government.This education system conducted in central government school, local government school, college, old-style private school and so on.Qiandongnan, surrounded by provinces of Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi, was recognized as Shengjie before Ming Dynasty and hardly influenced by the traditional Confucian education culture.After the establishment of Guizhou province, the traditional Confucian education gradually penetrated into Qiandongnan because of Ming's policy on culture and education. However, the traditional Confucian education only reached the rim of the Miao area at that time and the center of the Miao area still belonged to Shengjie.When Qing dynasty was built, the government continued Ming's policy on culture and education. During the period of Yongzheng, the government conquered the Miao area and set up Xin Jiang Liu Ting. From then on, the traditional Confucian education was disseminated to the center of Qiandongnan. In the late of Qing dynasty, Qiandongnan education changed from the traditional Confucian education into the modern education and built modern schools. During the Republic of China, the education in Qiandongnan presented many new characteristics.Therefore, it is beneficial to its local economic and cultural development to do the research on the establishment, development, change and influence of the traditional Confucian education in Qiandongnan during the time of Ming to the Republic of China.The paper consists of introduction and text. The text contains four chapters.Introduction, the introduction explains the reason of this topic chosen, reviews the previous researches and summaries its deficiencies.Chapter one, this chapter discusses the development and influence of the traditional C onfucian education in Qiandongnan in Ming dynasty.From historical background,this chapterdescribes the different characteristics among government education, Tusi education and Sh engjie education in Qiandongnan. Next, it concludes that the traditional Confucian educatio n was mainly accepted on the edge of this area at that time.Chapter two, this chapter depicts the background and specific performance of the promotion of the traditional Confucian education in Qiandongnan in Qing dynasty. Then explains many matters such as how the traditional Confucian education extended into the center of Qiandongnan and problems that occurred in the education transition in the late of Qing dynasty.Chapter three, this chapter analyzes the development of Qiandongnan education in the Republic of China through women's school education,normal education and vocational education.Then it describes the transition from the traditional Confucian education to the modern education in Qiandongnan during the Republic of China and the coexisting phenomenon about the traditional Confucian education with the modern education.Chapter four, this chapter discusses the influence of the traditional Confucian education in Qiandongnan on the basis of folkways, development of ethnic culture and national amalgamation.Conclusion, the conclusion reviews and summaries the whole paper, hoping to benefit Qiandongnan from the aspect of economic and cultural development, national unity and social harmoniousness.
