This thesis, by investigating the senior students in a elementary school in Wuhan, which uses their scientific literacy status as the starting point, in accordance with related interview outline with the science teachers,explores the problems in science education in elementary school, analyzes the reasons,and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions on how to develop scientific education and cultivate scientific literacy among elementary students.In this thesis, based on the existing research both at home and abroad, scientific literacy can be divided into three main dimensions to analyze: first, the elementary student's scientific inquiry ability;second, students' emotional attitudes towards science; third, the elementary student mastery of scientific knowledge. Science curriculum, which is closely related to scientific literacy cultivating among elementary school students, facing to all students, aims to develop students scientific literacy,emphasize science inquiry,consider students as a main body, and follow the rule of the constructivism learning theory in practice. In order to truly understand the scientific literacy among the seniors in elementary school and cultivating situation,this study carries out the investigation and interview in a elementary school in Wuhan city center. The analysis of the questionnaire shows that the overall level of elementary school students scientific literacy is good, but there still are some students, whose scientific inquiry ability are weak, practical abilities are lacking, and correct scientific values are not set up yet, or get some other problems. In addition, according to the view from the science teachers interviewed, it can be found that the general elementary schools do not pay much attention to science curriculum,curriculum resources is not fully satisfied with the needs of the classroom teaching, and the related evaluation system is not complete yet.According to the issues above, this thesis puts forward some countermeasures in four aspects: first,building a community of society, schools and families and creating a joint mechanism of cultivating students' scientific literacy;second, improving the quality of science teaching and enhancing students' learning ability of science efficiently; third, enriching the evaluation methods of science curriculum,and inspiring students' interests towards science; fourth, strengthening science teachers team construction, and promoting teachers' self-improvement.
