Freshmen education is an important part of university education, the contents of university freshmen education establish a bridge from high school to university, and serve as the cornerstone for university to society. Currently, the research and practice about the contents of university freshmen education in China higher education field has not yet formed a complete system guidance theory, the education content is multifarious, lacks of systemic and gradation, and the selection process of education content is insufficient attention to the demand of students. Therefore, this study takes the freshman education content as the core, guides by the demands of students, aims at the development of students, investigates and analyzes the status and demands of university freshmen education content, optimizes the design targets and basic principles of college freshmen education content, and attempts to establish university freshmen education content modules with clear objectives and hierarchy, also more useful to students' development.First of all, this study analyzes correlative research on the freshmen education contents and the development of students at home and abroad by the literature analysis method, in order to clear and definite the direction and content of the research; And uses the method of comparison research to analyze the status and characteristics of domestic and foreign university freshmen education content. Through comparing the similarities and differences of the freshmen education content at home and abroad, on one hand provide practical test for previous theoretical assumptions, on the other hand also provide reference for subsequent investigation and the freshmen education content module building; Secondly, under the guidance of the student development theory, the main content of the students' development are refined under the guidance of the student development theory, and combined with contemporary characteristics of freshmen and university freshmen education requirements, also determine the research theoretical dimension and guide the design of the questionnaire, then conduct a questionnaire survey by empirical investigation to the freshmen and students in different levels of college.Finally, this study combines the theoretical analysis with empirical study, clears the optimization objectives and basic principles of freshmen education content, and constructed the content modules of university freshmen education based on students' demands. This research improves the attractiveness of freshman education content through deepening education concept of students' development, strengthens the fundamental effect of freshman education content by highlighting the cultivation of student's ability, enhance the pertinence of freshman education content by respecting the different demands in individual students. The education content modules design is in accordance with basic principles which combining adaptation guiding with ability cultivating, general education with the individuality demand, staged education with the whole process of education. Eventually this study constructs seven freshmen educational content modules, respectively is developing purpose, interpersonal communication, developing competence, psychological development, establishing identity, knowledge acquisition and moral development, in order to promote the all-round development of students and provide the reference to promote college freshman education quality improvement.
