| TPR is a foreign language teaching method developed by James Asher in the 1960 s and it is used for immigrant children in the United States. TPR helps student to make connection between physical movement and target language. TPRS is the derivative of TPR and it is put forward by Blaine Ray who is teaching Spanish as a second language in 1990. On the basis of TPR, TPRS improves students’ reading ability and helps teacher to teach different types of vocabulary.This paper is under the guidance of the input hypothesis by Krashen, universal grammar by Chomsky, behavioral psychology, humanistic psychology. It mainly demonstrates the use of TPR and TPRS in classroom teaching through four months’ classroom observation and teaching practice in AISG. TPRS complements TPR from the design of the TPR physical movement to TPRS classroom oral stories and reading. Finally, it is discussing how to evaluate TPRS classroom teaching based on different evaluation objects. |
