As the first resource of higher education resources, university teachers' quality directly determine the quality of higher education, and thus also affect the level of a country's talent. The focal point of the University Teachers' Training mainly focus on the training and education of professional com petence of post-occupation, but little do they know that the pre-service cultivation at graduate level is also very important, especially for the cultivation of their teaching ability.As early as the end of the nineteen th century, American universities began to training and encouraging the graduate s tudents who have the tend ency to become teaching-based teachers in universities. Up to this day, US universities have summed up a lot of m ature experience to foster the teaching ability of th e quasi-university teachers at their graduate level. The cultivation of t eaching ability for gradua te students has experienced the generation period of graduates' teaching abil ity cultivation, the developm ent period of setting training courses and the diversification period of launching various projects from the beginning of the graduate education. In the proc ess of development, the training institutions in charged by graduate school to cultivate the pre-service teaching ability also developed to be in charg ed by m ultiple departments and teaching centre. And they also set clear objectives of cultivation. In terms of training content, the cultivation of teaching ability at the graduate stage in Am erica presented n ew characteristic of co mbining the teach ing theories with practices. And they also laun ched diversified training m ethods. Moreover, they evaluated the grad uates who participated in training c ourses of teaching ability by teaching portfolio in o rder to increased their competitiveness to become the teac hers in future.According to the exp eriences of Am erica, the ideas of training teaching ability of college teacher at the graduate stage should be renewed in China. In order to make provision for becoming the college teachers, people shou ld pay attention to the s etting of objectives for cultivation of college teache rs' teaching a bility, to es tablish specialized agencies to launch diversified training methods, as while as to focus on the guidance of the voc ational development planning of graduates.
