The orientation of vocational education is to cultivate high-quality technical talents for the services of front-line. From the perspective of educational sociology, vocational education is to cultivate a large number of professional talents not only with the professional level but also with professional spirit of the community.Professional development is the socialization process in which the individual becomes a qualified social worker and can assume the social role. It is the expected socialization process in which the students develop professional ethics, cultivate professional values, understand professional norms, study vocational knowledge and master vocational skills. This is the process which the vocational students must pass through and it is necessary for the preparation of employment and basic literacy.Based on the theory of sociology and vocational education, this paper analyzes the status and characteristics of vocational development of vocational students, the present situation and existing problems of vocational education in vocational colleges, and the countermeasures for the vocational development of vocational students. It reveals the main features of the development of higher vocational college students: occupation consciousness is formed, the blindness of the occupation ideal value; occupation view began to face the reality, the value of social participation and self-development; occupation attitude and habits from passive to active, occupation standard form needs to be improved; having a certain occupation quality, occupational development needs to be improved; the lack of career planning, the existence of contradictions between the ideal and the reality. From the perspective of the sociology, the higher vocational education should take professional development as the core to promote the students' socialization, the service concept of student development must be established, aiming at students' personal development and career development, change the instrumental orientation of higher vocational education, pushing the vocational spirit and enterprise culture into the professional teaching,to achieve the unity of instrumental and spiritual knowledge and skills.On the basis of the theoretical and empirical analysis, this paper expatiates the approaches and methods of professional training of vocational students.This paper also expatiates vocational education must be in the integration of production and teaching, school-enterprise cooperation in order to give full play to the advantages of schools and enterprises, and combine the students' knowledge learning and practical ability together. Only in the school-enterprise cooperation in order to meet the needs of the community to build the existing professional knowledge and professional accomplishment and practical ability of the senior professional talents.
