With the rapid advancement and development of the present modern society,more and more people have realized the urgent needs for more talents with creative awareness and ability.Education is undoubtedly the only path to achieve substantial cultivation of talents.However,what is sorrowful is that the current situation of Chinese education is far from satisfactory.The classroom teaching mode still remains teacher-centered.The traditional mode of classroom teaching almost pays no attention to students' individual differences.In order to better this situation,many educators have tried to incorporate cooperative learning into classroom teaching practice.Cooperative learning is not merely challenging,but also necessary and complementary to the traditional mode of classroom teaching.In the process of realizing the teaching reform to incorporate the concept of cooperative learning,the teachers have established and applied the mode of exploratory,autonomous,and group learning to stimulate students' active thinking and interest,thus lead them to positive thinking.Furthermore;students are also enthusiastically engaged in rich classroom activities,and thus become the real center of the English class,so that their creative competence and awareness can be well cultivated.The present study is aimed at demonstrating the positive effect of cooperative learning on the outcome of classroom English teaching at middle school,compared with the mode of traditional teaching.Three research questions are put forward 1.In comparison to the traditional mode of teaching,what impact does the mode of cooperative learning pose on the teachers and students' roles,attitude and habits of learning?2.In comparison to the traditional teaching,what positive impact does the new mode of teaching pose on the improvement of teaching effectiveness?3,In comparison to the traditional teaching,what are the advantages of the new mode of teaching that incorporates cooperative learning?This thesis is completed on the basis of a teaching experiment conducted in two middle school English classes.The author conducted a one-semester experiment.Conclusions are drawn as follows:1.The cooperative learning mode puts students in the actual center of English classroom teaching,considering teacher as mediator in the whole teaching and learning process.2.The mode of cooperative learning can help stimulate students' interest,and thus improve the teaching effectiveness of middle school classroom English teaching.3.The mode of cooperative learning can also help develop students'independent problem-solving as well as problem-analyzing ability.The value and significance of the present study lies in the following two points.Theoretically speaking,the positive influence of the mode of cooperative learning has been proved;students' motivation and interest have been substantially enhanced.Practically speaking,as more educators are trying to incorporate the mode of cooperative learning into their teaching practices,the findings of this study will provide enlightening references for them.
