After the rise of cooperative learning in the United States, it has attracted the whole world’s attention. And then it developed into a creative, effective teaching theory and strategy system. So far, the research and practice about cooperative learning has been spread all over the world. All kinds of research have mainly started from the following three aspects: theory, cooperative learning strategies, and the combination of cooperative learning and the related teaching theory. Since the late 1980 s, formal cooperative learning research in China has been developed rapidly. At the same time, the teaching approach of Cooperative Learning in our country achieved preliminary results both in the aspects of the teacher training and the classroom teaching. In addition, the new English syllabus explicitly advocates the learning styles of the cooperation, communication, practice, participation and experience. So it has placed Cooperative Learning in a prominent position, and it also played an important role in the research of Cooperative Learning for many scholars.The research about cooperative learning in junior middle school of English class mainly used the methods of investigation, observation and interview.It reported the current situation about the students’ understanding of cooperative learning, the way of dividing the groups, the cooperative learning process, evaluation mechanism, etc. The finding shows that most students can clearly recognize the profits from Cooperative Learning, and they also like this learning model. They are willing to participate in it actively, and hope to speak freely in the cooperation. However, there are still many problems in the practical group Cooperative Learning. Nearly 60% of the effects of Cooperative Learning in English classroom teaching are ideal. There are still a small part of Cooperative Learning are disappointing. And all the teachers and students have a lot of confusion about Cooperative Learning. Therefore, according to the current situation,it’s necessary to identify, diagnose, analyze the problems and the reasons.Then offer some scientific suggestions.
